Markets Operator
This is an opportunity for a junior or mid-level professional to join our Markets Operation team. Markets Operation is at the core of HEnEx business, as our markets directly contribute to the secure, sustainable and cost-effective supply of power and gas in the region.
We are currently looking for an enthusiast professional that will be a member of a co-operative and knowledge-sharing team which is responsible for the smooth operation of all energy markets and its market participants support during their trading activity through HEnEx's trading platforms. To achieve this, the Market Operator follows best market practices and applies robust EU and local operational procedures under normal or exceptional situations.
Your duties and responsibilities will include
- Fulfill front-office and back-office duties on daily market shift-operations 7/365 covering bank holidays, weekends, afternoons and late evenings
- Perform daily production tasks and manage production incidents with accurate reporting, follow-up on mitigation actions and record statistical KPIs
- Communicate with operational partners, including Monitoring, Admission, and Sales Dpts, the Clearing House, TSOs and IT providers to ensure smooth operation
- Apply operational procedures and internal manuals documentation (for junior & mid-level candidates); develop, update and review operational procedures and internal manuals documentation (for mid-level candidates)
- Participate in system testing and administer market platforms/systems
- Support market participants, e.g. system parametrization assistance, support on market participation issues, technical support
- Review and update company website content in collaboration with mid-level and senior team members
- Participate in European market coupling groups for the daily coordinated operation, testing of common EU platform assets and further development of energy markets
- Participate in company-wide and third-party European projects, in coordination with HEnEx colleagues from other teams and departments
- Participate in Business Continuity Plan testing
- Review regulatory framework documents in cooperation with senior team members (for mid-level candidates)
- Support systems’ further development, prepare technical documentation and reports, and overview requests to IT provider in cooperation with senior team members (for mid-level candidates)
- Contribute to the training process of market participants, prepare material and present on trading seminars in collaboration with senior team members (for mid-level candidates)
- Evaluate operational risk framework and adherence to corporate policies in cooperation with senior team members (for mid-level candidates)
Qualifications
- Education: Degree/Diploma in Engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical Engineering), Maths, Physics or a related field (postgraduate degree preferred).
- Experience: 1-4 years of professional experience in an Energy Exchange, TSO or Energy Company (Producer, Supplier, Trader, Aggregator) in a relevant position; Postgraduate studies in Energy Economics/Markets or relative field can substitute for experience.
Technical Skills:
- Ability to develop, review and maintain technical documentation
- Knowledge of fundamental energy market concepts, such as European market coupling framework, gas market principles, and familiarity with relevant terminology
- Excellent knowledge of common desktop applications (especially MS Office)
- Quantitative analysis & programming skills are a plus (MS Power BI, SQL, Python)
- Excellent written and oral skills in English & Greek
